This report provides basic statistics on marital characteristics of the Palestinian Territories at the national level and at the type of locality level, refugee status, and the educational attainment. The report is based on data collected during the Population, Housing and Establishment Census done in 1997. The report is compromised of four chapters, the first presents the report’s objectives, the second presents concepts and definitions used in this report, the third describes the main findings and the fourth deals with data quality. The main results showed that 53.1% of male population aged 12 years and over are married while 55.9% of female are married in the same age group. The singulate mean ages at marriage in the Palestinian Territories were 24.5 years and 21.5 years for males and females respectively. The median age at first marriage for males in the Palestinian Territories was 23 and 18 for females.
