A survey of West Bank and Gaza communities was carried out between February and June 1992. Major findings of the survey include:
- The total population is estimated at 2,257,000 persons.
- The number of workers in Israel is estimated at 189,464, comprising 48.2% of the labor force of the West Bank and 32.3% of that of the Gaza Strip.
- 27,361 persons returned from the Arabian Gulf states after the Gulf war. 12.3% of the returnees settled in Gaza Strip.
