Data is presented pertaining to the Hebron District from the demographic survey in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The survey was conducted in 1995 by PCBS. The population of this district is relatively younger than that of the Remaining West Bank, as 49.4% of the population are less than 15 years of age. This is compared with 45% for all the West Bank. The average household size was estimated at a high 7.6, compared with 6.7 in the RWB. The fertility rate is also higher, at 6.83, compared with 5.61 for the RWB. Although the mortality rate was relatively higher than that of the West Bank (34 per thousand births compared with 25 for the RWB), this estimate is still notably lower than other estimates based on regional or national studies.
