A demographic survey of the West Bank and Gaza Strip populations was conducted with the main aim of testing a new methodology, the "multiplicity" method. The study yielded various estimates of fertility and mortality variables including an infant mortality of 43 for the West Bank and 63 for the Gaza Strip. Problems associated with the new methodology are discussed at length.
