This paper makes a comparison between the Palestinian Occupied Territories 2000-03 and the Netherlands under the German military occupation during the 2nd World War. The Palestinian territories are currently witnessing the onset of mass famine, at a time when many people are already malnourished and traumatized from more than a half century of military conflict. Available research evidence indicates that long term physical and psychological effects on unborn Palestinian babies will be far more devastating than those consequent on of the Netherlands. While the famine had a profound affect on the general health of the population, including unborn children, the event was relatively short, compared to the current crisis in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT).
