The aim of this study is to investigate continuing education programs for nursing personnel in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Data were collected through cross sectional surveys, utilizing self- administered questionnaires and personal interviews with nursing personnel in the area.
The study indicates that human resources for carrying out continuing education for nursing personnel are not available. However, inter-organizational variations exist in terms of physical and educational resources.
Topics discussed in the report include nurses' engagement in professional reading, attending work- related seminars, workshops and courses. Nurses' suggestions concerning the most preferred methods of teaching, how organizations could facilitate the process and subjects for priority learning needs are presented. The report contains detailed information about the nursing workforce in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
