60. McCarthy, B. J. and Atrash, H. K. An Assessment of Epidemiology, Tuberculosis Control, Diabetes Control, HIV/STD, and the Maternal and Child Health Program, Palestinian National Authority Ministry of Health. Jerusalem: WHO, 1996: 60 pp.
This report presents the major conclusions and recommendations made by two temporary WHO consultants to the Palestinian Ministry of Health as part of their two weeks visit. The purpose of the visit was to assess the existing health services and structures related to epidemiology, tuberculosis control, diabetes control, HIV/STD, and the Maternal and Child Health Program. The report consists of two parts: the executive summary and field reports. One of the report's significant recommendations is to develop a Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP). A proposed curriculum and training program of this is presented in the executive summary. Also presented in the summary is a proposal for operational research using the risk approach in Palestine in a comprehensive program of perinatal health care. The field reports in the second part give an overview of existing services and current status in each of the sectors mentioned.
