This report explains in detail what has been achieved since the Palestinians took over responsibility for health in the Gaza Strip. It is divided into four main sections. The first section on demography presents several health indicators in the Gaza Strip. A series of future research needs for each indicator is then given. The following two sections present an overview of services provided by the primary and secondary health care sectors. Their respective activities and achievements are also included. Other activities, such as research, mental health, human resource development, and finance and health insurance are also discussed. An assortment of annexes is presented, providing the reader with much detailed data on health in the Gaza Strip.
