This report was prepared as a part of an UNCTAD in-depth intersectoral project on the economy of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. It presents a review of public health conditions and services, analyses of the health care structure and human resources, a discussion of factors affecting health conditions and recommendations for immediate action to improve and develop Palestinian health care services. An emphasis is placed on the role of multiple determinants for health conditions of the Palestinians, including the Israeli policies, socio-economic factors, cultural factors and the impact of international assistance. Health care levels addressed by the report’s review and recommendations include community health, secondary care, tertiary care, rehabilitation and geriatric services.
