The continued high prevalence of paralytic poliomyelitis in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in spite of relatively high coverage by TOPV is discussed.

The finding that some fully vaccinated children, nevertheless, contracted the disease is noted and is attributed to interference with TOPV by endemic enteric viruses.
