8. Isaac, J., Kharoub, K., Mourad, H., and Hrimat, N. A Palestinian Vision of Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development. ARIJ, undated: 9 pp.

This paper presents a discussion of what is needed in the future concerning environmental protection and sustainable development for the Palestinian perspective.  The paper begins by outlining the principles of sustainable development, which emphasizes the need for economic stability and a variety of types of development projects particularly concerning the water crisis.  Several approached to managing the water effectively must first begin by coordination of Jordan, Israel, and Palestine in creating an integrated water program.  The related problem of water quality could be ensured by the installation of dual systems.  The problem of desertification is also addressed.  Added to this problem is the issue of poor quality and dangerous pesticides being used.  Finally, the paper stresses the need for considerable financial development and the important role the private sector plays in the development scheme, no matter its scale.
