31. Halileh, S. A Survey of Physical Screening and Child Development of Palestinian Children from Birth to Three Years of Age. Jerusalem: UNICEF, 1996: 97 pp.
This report highlights the need for starting the screening of physical and developmental abnormalities among Palestinian children from birth and onwards. The screenings are done in order to ensure early detection and treatment. The already existing mother and child health centers with the present staff will be sufficient to provide such services once adequate training is provided. A network is then needed to link the MCH centers to the specialists. This network should link, ensure quality, and follow-up on services. Analysis of social, educational, economic and other factors in relation to childhood early development are not adequately addressed in this report due to sample size and time constraints. As a result, conclusions are provisional, but interesting enough to raise questions and initiate further research.
