A retrospective study of 178 children, aged one month to 13 years, with Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) admitted to Augusta Victoria Hospital, between July 1990 and June 1993.

Results include:
- 3.4% of admitted cases in the studied age group had urinary tract infections. Fifty-four percent of the cases were less than two years of age and 65% were females.
- E. Coli was the main cause of UTI.
- The sensitivity of E. coli was 6% to ampicillin, 34% to trimethoprim, 64% to cephalexin, 84% to augmentin, 81% to parenteral gentamycin and 98% to ceftriaxone. No significant change in antibiotic sensitivity was noticed over the period of study.
- The two most common clinical presentations were cystitis (33%) and gastroenteritis (22%).
