Nineteen cases were hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit in Makassed Hospital between October 1986 and November 1993 as a result of hemorrhagic diseases caused by vitamin K deficiency. Their records were reviewed and clinical aspects examined.

The authors recommend systematic administration of intramuscular injections of 1 mg vitamin K immediately after delivery for hospital deliveries and within the first six months of life for home-delivered infants.
