19.Tanamly, M. Nutrition Assessment in the West Bank and Gaza. Washington D.C.: MEDS, 2000:24pp.

This report presents a broad overview of the West Bank and Gaza nutritional status. Despite the improvement of the overall nutritional status of the population in these areas over the last two decades, certain nutritional problems remain as public health concerns. At the low-income levels in Palestine, nutritional problems are related more to the balance and quality of food in the diet than to total dietary energy intake.  Many nutritional disorders result from an inadequate dietary balance because the poor often cannot afford the variety of foods needed to maintain good health. Most of the data used in this report were taken from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) and the Ministry of Health. The report is divided into 4 different sections, starting with an introduction, followed by section on under-nutrition, then over-nutrition and finally recommendations.
