This document represents a situation analysis based on secondary data, whose aim is to assist planners and policy makers improve the nutrition situation of the Palestinian people. The author points to dietary-related non-communicable diseases and anemia in pregnant women and young children as the major nutritional problems in the area. Malnutrition is considered a potential problem in view of the economic deterioration. The document advocates the development of a comprehensive national food and nutrition policy, in parallel with strengthening nutrition capacity within the MOH, establishing nutrition information systems and establishing programs to combat dietary-related diseases and anemia.
