The study assessed the nutritional status in Palestinian children (9–16 years), and their knowledge, attitudes, and practices to establish a baseline for improvement in their nutritional status and behavioural patterns after application of a school feeding programme. A cross-sectional study in March, 2008 was done. researchers used a computer-generated randomisation sequence to select a representative sample of 2000 students (aged 9–11 years. Some measures were taken and information about knowledge and attitudes were gathered. Findings 6% of 1883 children who were assessed were stunted less than 1% had wasting, 2% were underweight, 11% were anaemic (7% of boys vs 14% of girls), and 15% were overweight and obese.
