13. Khamis, V. Political Violence and the Palestinian Family: Implications for Mental Health and Well-Being. 2000: 144pp.

This book describes a social psychological study that systematically analyzed the impact of political traumas on the mental health adjustment of the affected family members. In this study, quantitative and qualitative methods were combined to ensure that the resulting data would be reasonably comprehensive and useful in guiding successful policy, models of assessment, as well as preventive and intervention programs. The book is divided into five chapters: Chapter one provides an overview of political victimization; chapter two is organized into two parts that present the methodological framework of the study, including quantitative and qualitative techniques, chapter three is based on the empirical research findings, chapter four addresses ten themes that arose in focus group discussions, and chapter five provides an integrative summary of the major themes contained within the book.
