50. El Sarraj, E. Gaza: The Intifada and Mental Health. Presented to the Children in War Conference at the Freud Center, Hebrew University, Jerusalem, 1990: 5 pp.
The author describes the social and psychological situation of the Gaza Strip population and notes the lack of mental health services. The Intifada affected the mental health of many Palestinians by transforming helplessness, frustration and aggression to self-respect, assertiveness and solidarity. The involvement of Palestinian children in the Intifada increases their adaptability to the stressful events that they experience.
