21. Coleridge, P. Training for Community Work in Disability, West Band and Gaza Strip - A Rapid Appraisal Study. Ramallah: HDIP and ADD, 1994: 31 pp.
The author identified two objectives of this study. The first was to identify developmental training needs for disabled people and those working with disabled people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The second was to test the concept of developing locally produced training material in Arabic about community work in disability. Several methods were used in this study including rapid appraisal techniques, interviews and focus groups with disabled people and those working with them, and detached and participant observation. A literature review is also provided on CBR in general, disability in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and CBR in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Overall, there was a wide acceptance for the concept of developing locally produced training materials in Arabic. The developmental training needs identified fall into the following groups: attitude formation, organizational and management skills, community development skills, skills on raising awareness, practical skills, and project management skills.
