A study conducted in 1991 describing the experience of disabled Palestinian women. Nine disabled women with physical or sensory disabilities, aged 23 - 43 years and living in the central part of the West Bank were the focus of the study. The authors suggest some mechanisms for better integration of the disabled in society:
- Involvement of the disabled in decision-making especially in issues related to their needs.
- Increasing the societal consciousness vis-à-vis the disabled and removing mechanical and attitudinal barriers to facilitate integration of the disabled in society
- Involvement of women's movements to ensure equal rights for women and men.
