20. Najjab, S. Policy Statement of the Womens Health Programme at the Union of Palestinian Medical Relief Committees in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Jerusalem: UPMRC, 1994: 7 pp.
An overview of the philosophy and activities of the Womens Health Programme at the UPMRC is presented. The paper calls for the need to address the issue of womens health in a holistic approach, through the womans life cycle, as opposed to focusing solely on the reproductive function of the woman. The paper denotes the low status of women, which is contradictory with their crucial contribution to the health of the family and the community at large. The holistic approach adopted by the WHP at the UPMRC is emphasized through staff training, community health education, research, coordination and health service provision.
