This report summarizes the existing information on the health of Palestinian women throughout their life span, including social conditions and demography, health conditions and health services. This information is used as an introduction to a discussion of various program options that will lead to comprehensive Palestinian policy objectives for women's health. While females enjoy longer life-expectancy, Palestinian females experience significant health and social disadvantage relative to males. Despite a high number of clinics and hospitals, women's basic services appear to be lacking. However, Palestinian women are increasingly demanding better care with reproductive health as a main priority. A broad scope of an option for reproductive health and gender policy is introduced, focusing on primary health care principles. The document also presents a bibliography on women’s health issues, a list of organizations involved in women’s health in Palestine, as well as a directory of international sources of funding for women’s health activities.
